A new long-term agreement between the Canberra Raiders and Simi Sasagi is reportedly "all but done," with Sasagi poised to become the latest player to secure a multi-year contract, ensuring his stay in the nation's capital.
In recent years, the Raiders have undertaken a significant roster overhaul, bringing in numerous promising talents while parting ways with some veteran players, such as Jack Wighton and Jordan Rapana.
Sasagi, who joined the Raiders last season after playing for the Newcastle Knights, has demonstrated his versatility by successfully filling various roles, mainly in the back-row and center positions.
Following the initiation of extension discussions in mid-July, The Daily Telegraph reports that Sasagi has now finalized a new two-year contract, which will keep him with the Raiders until the conclusion of the 2028 season.
Sasagi will join other players like Kaeo Weekes, Savelio Tamale, and Tom Starling, who have also signed long-term contracts with the club. The extension is described as "all-but done," according to The Canberra Times.
"We definitely want to keep him, and we're trying hard to do that," Raiders CEO Don Furner stated regarding Sasagi's contract status.
