Raiders edge Storm 26-22

Raiders record first win at home in Forever Green round

The Canberra Raiders claimed their first home victory of the season, edging the Melbourne Storm 26-22 at GIO Stadium Canberra.

In chilly conditions both clubs came in hunting a third win after seven rounds, setting up a tight contest.

Early on Hudson Young appeared to have opened the scoring after pouncing on a loose carry from Will Warbrick, only for the bunker to rule the play out due to accidental offside contact touching two players.

Canberra responded quickly when Ethan Strange burst through and set up Simi Sasagi to register the match's first official try.

The Raiders then capitalised following the restart when Melbourne conceded a penalty deep in Canberra territory.

Corey Horsburgh finished a strong support play from a last-tackle kick chase to put Canberra further ahead.

Despite the promising start, Canberra surrendered possession soon after restart, allowing Melbourne their first significant attacking opportunity.
