Las Vegas: In a move that left them red-faced and feeling like a pair of rookies, Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies have issued heartfelt apologies for their late-night scuffle in Sin City.

Young, still scratching his head as to why they should be given another shot with the Canberra Raiders in the bright lights of Vegas, revealed that the team had sorted out the incident behind closed doors.

Despite the embarrassment, both Young, a key figure in the Raiders leadership pack, and Smithies have been granted a second chance to redeem themselves on the field against the New Zealand Warriors.

It's a true test of character for these two lads.

The Raiders management has decided to hold off on any disciplinary action for now, considering the distance and hassle of flying in replacements for the duo all the way from Australia.

But make no mistake, consequences will be swift upon their return to Canberra post-game.

The NRL integrity unit was quick to catch wind of the scrap, a typical case of two mates getting carried away in the heat of the moment after a wild night out on the strip - a tale as old as time in the world of sports.

Young spilled the beans on the scuffle taking place in the elevator at their hotel after a rowdy night out in Vegas - just the crew's first taste of the dazzling city.

It's a harsh lesson learned in the school of hard knocks for these young guns.
