The South Sydney Rabbitohs are preparing to initiate discussions with a young forward whose contract is currently not secured, as they aim to keep him on the team amid interest from competing clubs.
Thomas Fletcher, the only player from the club's 2025 roster without a contract, was not included among the nine players released by the club recently. With the next season approaching, his future remains uncertain.
Reports indicate that at least two rival teams in the NRL have expressed interest in securing him.
Nevertheless, Fletcher has previously stated his preference to continue with the Rabbitohs, expressing a strong connection to the club. He remarked, "It's the greatest thing ever (wearing the jersey). I don't think anything I've done compares to it. I'm speechless."
Fletcher made his debut in Round 22 against the Brisbane Broncos after a solid performance in the NSW Cup over the last two years. He has managed to meet expectations since transitioning to first-grade, despite limited playing time.
Although he did not participate in the final match of the regular season, he achieved a personal best in his last outing against the St George Illawarra Dragons.
