The South Sydney Rabbitohs have turned down a loan offer for one of rugby league's promising talents, Jonah Pezet, from the Melbourne Storm for the upcoming season.
As reported by The Daily Telegraph, the Rabbitohs were presented with a chance to acquire Pezet on a loan for the 2026 NRL season but opted not to proceed with the deal.
In an effort to solidify their halves combination, coach Wayne Bennett made several new acquisitions this season, bringing in Jamie Humphreys, Lewis Dodd, and Jayden Sullivan from the Manly Sea Eagles, St Helens RLFC, and Wests Tigers.
While Humphreys and Sullivan have surpassed expectations, Dodd has struggled to deliver on the promises associated with his signing and costly contract and has largely been playing in the NSW Cup.
Nevertheless, none of these players have succeeded in helping the Rabbitohs break back into the top eight.
The discussion around Pezet comes after his manager, Braith Anasta, dismissed rumors linking the young player to a potential move to the St George Illawarra Dragons over the weekend.
