South Sydney Rabbitohs Young Gun to Join Top 30 Roster in 2027
One of the standout prospects from the South Sydney Rabbitohs' pathways system, halfback Matthew Humphries, is set to be elevated to the club's Top 30 roster in 2027.
Having emerged as the club's leading point-scorer in this year's SG Ball Cup, Humphries has made significant strides this year and has recently debuted in both the Jersey Flegg Cup and NSW Cup, marking an impressive year.
Highly esteemed within rugby league circles, the junior from Terrigal-Wamberal Sharks will transition to the Rabbitohs' development list next season before his promotion to the Top 30 roster in a few years.
Versatile in his position, Humphries can play either five-eighth or halfback. He has started in the halves for the past three reserve-grade matches, scoring one try and amassing a total of 272 running meters, showcasing his capability as the key playmaker.
Previously with the Central Coast Roosters, he has also demonstrated his talents in rugby union, playing inside centre for Newington College and earning a spot in the Under-16s NSW Waratahs squad before fully committing to rugby league.
