The South Sydney Rabbitohs have encountered a significant setback with the announcement that star player Cody Walker will miss the remainder of the 2025 NRL season due to a calf injury.
Initially expected to return this week against the reigning champions, Walker had participated in only eight matches this season.
According to reports from The Courier-Mail, the latest injury setback will keep him sidelined for six to eight weeks, extinguishing the Rabbitohs' hopes of making the Finals.
Despite the disappointing news, Walker is reportedly on the verge of extending his contract with the Rabbitohs to continue playing through 2026.
Coach Wayne Bennett expressed confidence in Walker's abilities, stating, "Cody plays to a very high standard so I don't see any reason why he can't continue."
The Rabbitohs' struggle to remain competitive without their key player poses a significant challenge to their season aspirations.
