South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett has emphasized that his team is not yet a top-four contender, despite navigating a challenging month against some of the league's strongest teams.
Though they've experienced four consecutive losses to the top teams-narrow defeats to the Warriors and Bulldogs, a blown lead in Canberra, and a heartbreaking golden-point loss to the Storm-there is optimism within the camp.
Currently sitting just above the Titans on the ladder, the Rabbitohs find themselves only four points shy of a top-eight position.
They also have two byes remaining and are set to welcome back injured key players Cody Walker and Campbell Graham this week.
Bennett remains hopeful, stating, "Lots of things are possible… The next couple of weeks are pretty important to us."
He noted the competitive nature of the league, stating, "There's not much between all the teams right now, so we need to start getting a few wins behind us and see what the rest of the season brings." As they prepare for an important matchup against Bennett's former team, the Dolphins, the Rabbitohs are keen to capitalize on their current situation and make a strong push towards the finals.
