The South Sydney Rabbitohs are grappling with a three-match losing streak, primarily attributed to execution issues, according to reports from zerotackle.com.
Following losses to the North Queensland Cowboys and a shutout against the Canterbury Bulldogs, the Rabbitohs continued their tough run by losing to the Melbourne Storm on Anzac Day, with a final score of 24-16.
Despite spending much of the first half on the defensive, South Sydney managed to go into halftime tied at ten points.
In a post-match press conference, assistant coach Ben Hornby, who stepped in for Wayne Bennett, acknowledged the team's efforts but emphasized the need for improved execution.
He stated, "There was a lot of effort, the boys tried hard.
The execution just isn't there at the moment, and it hasn't been for the last few weeks." Hornby also noted that while the execution issues may seem fixable, the frequent changes to the lineup are complicating matters.
"In some ways, it's an easy fix, but when you're making the changes we are week to week, it's getting difficult."
The Rabbitohs' performance in recent games showcases both their resilience and the critical need for enhanced execution as they seek to break their losing streak.
