Rabbitohs Discuss Signing David Fifita from Titans

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have officially confirmed ongoing discussions with the Gold Coast Titans about acquiring David Fifita.

Currently under contract with the Titans until at least the end of next year, Fifita has been frequently rumored to be leaving the club this year. The back-rower, who has represented Queensland in State of Origin, faced significant challenges this season, including an extended absence due to an ankle injury. At one point, he was even out of the first-grade team, struggling to find a place in Des Hasler's underperforming squad.

With Hasler now dismissed from his role, Josh Hannay is set to take over as head coach. However, it appears that Hannay may not get to work with Fifita, as the talented second-rower is anticipated to join the Rabbitohs instead.

Recent reports have suggested this transition, and South Sydney head coach Wayne Bennett confirmed to News Corp that talks with the Titans are indeed taking place. "We're talking with the Titans," Bennett stated. "We're going through the normal process of what you do when you want to recruit a player."
