Rabbitohs Coach Lets Dodd Go After $2 Million Error

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett has reportedly given halfback Lewis Dodd permission to leave the club. Dodd's situation has been notable this year, as he signed a three-year contract worth approximately $700,000 annually to begin his NRL career with the Rabbitohs.

The talented English halfback made the move from St Helens in the English Super League, with expectations that he would become the primary halfback for South Sydney. However, this has not materialized as anticipated.

After missing the beginning of the season, Dodd was not chosen as the starting halfback, as Jamie Humphreys, who joined from the Manly Sea Eagles during the off-season, took his place once fit. Since then, Dodd has had limited opportunities to showcase his abilities.

Out of the six games he has participated in, many were from the bench, and Bennett has even opted to utilize Jack Wighton in the halves instead of Dodd. Consequently, Dodd has struggled to make an impact, failing to impress the experienced coach.
