NRL legend Cameron Smith, known for his skills on the field as one of the game's top players, has been named as one of 11 new inductees into the prestigious NRL Hall of Fame.
The Queensland connection is strong, with four championship-winning teammates from the Queensland and Melbourne Storm teams joining Smith in this elite group.
Smith, along with his fellow Kangaroos, Maroons, and Storm teammates Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater, and Greg Inglis, have all left their mark on the rugby league world with their impressive performances.
Cronk, in particular, has had a stellar career with appearances in nine grand finals for both Melbourne and the Sydney Roosters.
The Queensland presence doesn't stop there, with other Maroons greats like Steve Renouf and Johnathan Thurston also being honored in this year's Hall of Fame induction.
The cohort also includes indigenous trailblazer Lionel Morgan, NSW hooker Benny Elias, Kiwis star Benji Marshall, and South Sydney hero Sam Burgess.
Adding to the mix is former tough guy Les Boyd, who represented Australia in 17 tests and will join the other inductees at a ceremony at the SCG on Wednesday, August 21.
The contributions of these players to the sport of rugby league will never be forgotten as they take their place among the game's greatest.
