Queensland Unveils Young Squad for NSW Match

Queensland Under 19s coach and former NRL star Darius Boyd has announced his team for the upcoming clash against the NSW Blues, featuring a host of promising talent from elite NRL pathways.

Working alongside assistant coaches Andrew McCullough and Jesse Maclean, Boyd aims to replicate last year's success, where they achieved a remarkable 23-22 victory over the Blues.

The Townsville Blackhawks' dynamic duo, Taj Lateo and Taylan To'a, will be part of the squad after their triumphant run in the Mal Meninga Cup, culminating in a championship win in May.

Lateo was pivotal in their Grand Final against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls, scoring a crucial field goal that sealed the thrilling match.

Sam Williams, a lock for the Seagulls and Lateo's Grand Final rival, will also join the camp, potentially creating a formidable trio for Queensland.

Boyd expressed his satisfaction with the wealth of elite talent emerging from Queensland's pathways, highlighting strong depth in several critical areas.

"We've got a really exciting group of players who have earned their opportunity through consistent performances this season," Boyd stated in a QRL announcement.

"The depth of talent coming through the pathways system is really encouraging, and we've selected a group that we believe will represent Queensland proudly."

Reflecting on last year's nail-biting match, Boyd emphasized the importance of ensuring players comprehend the expectations tied to wearing the Maroons jersey, laying the groundwork for future success in the sport.
