Queensland Rugby League has announced its under-19 State of Origin squad for 2026, with the first group session scheduled for this weekend in Brisbane.
The junior Origin pathway, once divided into under-16, under-18, and under-20 categories, has been streamlined to a single under-19 match, now recognized as the premier showcase for young talent annually.
This squad, coached by Darius Boyd with the assistance of Jesse Maclean and Andrew McCullough, will face New South Wales' under-19 team mid-year.
Boyd remarked on the positive state of Queensland's rugby league pathways, stating, "There are a lot of talented young Queenslanders coming through the pathways, which is evident both from the success of last year's campaign and the strength of the emerging squad named for this weekend."
He added, "I'm looking forward to working with this group of young men and help them further their development both on and off the field."
Among the squad members, Dolphins players Charlie Dickson and Brian Pouniu are the only two currently holding active NRL development contracts, yet numerous recognizable names are included.
Notable players who made the squad include Adaquix Luke (son of Isaac Luke), Nate Berrigan (son of Barry Berrigan), Noah Fien (son of Nathan Fien), Frank Howarth (brother of Jack Howarth), and Tyson Walker (brother of Sam and Ben Walker).
