The PNG Chiefs plan to unveil their first logo and supporter jersey in Port Moresby on Wednesday, October 21, after winning a New Zealand High Court ruling.
On Friday, the club said the court had blocked an injunction sought by New Zealand Rugby and the Waikato-based Super Rugby Chiefs over its use of the name.
New Zealand Rugby and the Super Rugby club hold rights to the Chiefs name in New Zealand and Australia, and to the logo in New Zealand.
The trademark dispute is unresolved: the PNG club is still awaiting registration in both countries.
Last week, IP Australia was understood to favour the 15-man code because the Port Moresby club had not registered its Australian trademark.
PNG Chiefs CEO Lorna McPherson said: "The PNG Chiefs welcome today's decision in the New Zealand High Court and look forward to the launch of the inaugural logo and supporter jersey in Port Moresby on Wednesday, October 21,"
She added: "As the matter remains before the Court, no further comment on this matter will be provided at this time."
The NRL is an Australian business that also competes in New Zealand, complicating the dispute.
The PNG club has signed seven players for its inaugural season. Players off-contract at the end of 2027 can be signed from November 1.
