Piakura Challenges Broncos' Injury Timeline

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Brisbane Broncos second-rower Brendan Piakura has publicly challenged the club's injury prognosis regarding his recovery timeline. The Broncos announced on Tuesday that Piakura would be sidelined for eight weeks due to a meniscus tear he incurred during pre-season training.

This eight-week absence would mean Piakura would miss the World Club Challenge and the initial rounds of the competition, with a potential return during Round 3 or 4 seeming the most likely scenario.

In response, Piakura stated, "Not eight weeks, bud," in his initial comment on social media.

When informed that the club's media update had confirmed the eight-week timeline, he provided another surprising update, saying, "I ran today, back next week."

If this is accurate, Piakura may very well join his teammates for the World Club Challenge scheduled for February 20 in England against Hull KR.
