Pezet Announces Two-Club Switch to Eels, Broncos

Young talent Jonah Pezet has announced he will join the Parramatta Eels for the 2026 season before transitioning to the Brisbane Broncos on a long-term contract.

This transfer, initially reported last week, follows Pezet's decision to activate a get-out clause in his current agreement with the Melbourne Storm, where he had initially signed for multiple years.

The Storm's choice to re-sign Jahrome Hughes prompted Pezet to seek opportunities elsewhere.

In 2026, Pezet will join Jason Ryles' efforts to rebuild the team in western Sydney, teaming up with Mitchell Moses. This decision indicates that Parramatta will likely shift its focus to developing young halfbacks Lorenzo Talataina and Lincoln Fletcher, although the implications for the also-contracted Joash Papalii remain unclear.

"Jonah is one of the most exciting young talents in the game," stated Mark O'Neill, Parramatta's general manager of football.

"He adds class and depth to the halves as we head into the 2026 season. Jonah will join us for a year, which makes us better now, whilst also allowing time for the emerging talent to continue their development through the Pathways system."

"the Head Coach, Jason Ryles, has previously worked with Jonah and knows firsthand the professionalism and impact he can have in a team environment. We're excited to welcome Jonah to the Club and look forward to seeing him connect with the squad and Eels community in 2026."
