Peters Signals Interest in England Coaching Role

Willie Peters, the Hull KR coach who led the team to a premiership win, has expressed his willingness to discuss the possibility of becoming the next head coach of England, especially with the Rugby League World Cup approaching in 2026.

Peters is among several notable candidates for the position following Shaun Wane's resignation earlier this month, which also includes Leeds Rhinos coach Brad Arthur, who has shown his interest as well.

After Hull KR's challenging defeat to Wakefield on Sunday, Peters acknowledged that the England coaching role has significant attractiveness. He confirmed he is open to exploring the opportunity if discussions take place.

"Yep, look I'd certainly have a conversation - that's for sure," Peters stated to NRL.com.

A former halfback for South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons, Peters has cultivated a strong coaching profile in the UK. He has successfully led Hull KR to historic achievements and is recognized as one of the most respected figures in the Super League coaching community.

Additionally, Peters was part of the Australian coaching staff during last year's Ashes Series, where he worked alongside Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters as England faced a 3-0 series defeat.

Despite the series outcome, Peters maintains that the England coaching position continues to be among the most coveted in the sport.

"It's a prestigious job, isn't it?" Peters remarked.
