Willie Peters, the head coach of the English Super League, has officially confirmed his aspirations to transition to coaching in the NRL in the future.

Currently, the 46-year-old is participating in a training camp with Kevin Walters and the Kangaroos, where he serves as an assistant coach. Walters invited Peters not only for his expertise but also for his substantial knowledge about English players, especially after leading the Hull Kingston Rovers to an impressive English double crown in 2025.

Peters boasts an admirable winning percentage of 73% since taking the helm at Hull Kingston Rovers in 2023.

If he decides to move to the NRL in the upcoming years, he may follow in the footsteps of Kristian Woolf, who successfully made the transition from English coaching to leading the Dolphins. Despite facing major injury setbacks, Woolf nearly guided the team to their first finals series in 2025.

Peters has a rich history in the NRL, having played for both the South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons. He honed his coaching skills through various junior ranks in Australia and gained valuable experience working under Wayne Bennett at the Rabbitohs, as well as serving as an assistant at Newcastle before heading to England.

In a conversation with 9 News, Peters reiterated his intent to coach in Australia eventually.
