EXCLUSIVE: Departed Wests Tigers forward Peter Taateo has finalized an agreement to join a new club, ensuring he can continue his rugby league career into the next season.

Taateo, who was previously on the Canberra Raiders roster, transferred to the Wests Tigers during the 2025 season. Although he caught the attention of club officials with his performance, he did not reach first-grade, playing a total of 11 matches in the NSW Cup.

This promising young prop is a former Under-16s NSW Blues representative and has also been associated with the Parramatta Eels and Penrith Panthers systems. He is seen as a player to watch in the upcoming seasons, particularly with the introduction of new teams like the Perth Bears and PNG Chiefs.

His new chapter with the Newtown Jets will pair him with former NRL center Morgan Harper, who is also among the club's recent signings.

Harper was a late addition to the Warriors lineup for the 2025 NRL season, adding depth to their outside backs. However, he did not see playtime during the regular season and instead featured in the NSW Cup until his unexpected departure.

As he joins the Jets, Harper boasts impressive stats, including six tries, six try assists, 48 tackle busts, ten line-breaks, 283 tackles, and a total of 2,585 running meters across 22 reserve-grade appearances in 2025.

Since debuting in 2019, Harper has played for several teams including the Canterbury Bulldogs (2019-20), Manly Sea Eagles (2020-23), and Parramatta Eels (2024). His experience encompasses a total of 64 appearances in various roles, such as in the centers and back-row.
