Perth Bears have made their entry into the NRL official with the announcement of their first two signings, Toby Sexton and Englishman Harry Newman. Coach Mal Meninga emphasized that these players are the ideal choices to kickstart the club's journey.
The club confirmed the signings of Sexton and Newman on Tuesday, with Sexton likely taking on the role of Perth's inaugural halfback.
With his transition to the NRL, Newman, a centre with the Leeds Rhinos, aims to enhance the Bears' backline. He has also represented England in seven Test matches.
"Both players have all the attributes and qualities I'm looking for when building out the roster," Meninga stated.
"Toby is a proven leader who works hard to make his teammates better.
"He is a quality person who I know will make the most of the opportunity to be a trailblazer for the Perth Bears.
"Harry is a Test player who has been a part of the successful Leeds Rhinos system for several years.
"He has the skillset and experience to make an immediate impact in the NRL, and I'm really excited to see what he can do when he gets here in 2027."
