Former Manly prop Lloyd Perrett has initiated legal action against the club regarding an alleged "outlandish training regime" that he claims prematurely ended his NRL career.

Peter Carter, director of Carter Capner Law, stated that Perrett's career was adversely affected by the club's actions.

AAP has reviewed the statement of claims filed in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday, which highlights a mandatory pre-season training session at Narrabeen Sports Complex on November 6, 2017, conducted under what Carter described as "very warm conditions."

This session included a 20-minute warmup followed by two 2km time trials, which Perrett completed in times of eight minutes and 23 seconds and ten minutes and 23 seconds, respectively.

After finishing one lap of a third 2km time trial, Perrett allegedly "collapsed unconscious to the ground."

The claim asserts that Perrett "was not supplied with any water or other fluids during the training session because Mr. Dan Ferris, the club performance coach, had directed before the start of the session that there would be no water breaks."
