Isaah Yeo is expected to be available for Australia's World Cup campaign after postponing surgery, according to further reports from News Corp.
Penrith teammate Dylan Edwards, however, will miss the tournament, which begins in two weeks, because his knee injury requires surgery, News Corp reported.
Edwards was hurt in Week 3 of the finals but kept playing after Ivan Cleary confirmed he had ruptured his PC in the first half.
The injury restricted his movement in the second half, despite a determined performance.
After another strong season, Edwards had been likely to make Kevin Walters' Kangaroos squad.
His absence leaves James Tedesco and incumbent Reece Walsh competing for the fullback spot.
Walsh impressed against England in the three-Test Ashes series late last year, while Tedesco has 19 Kangaroos Tests and another excellent Roosters season behind him.
Tedesco offers Walters a reliable option; Walsh brings exceptional attacking skill.
Selecting both could leave Australia short of backline versatility if injuries occur.
Edwards has played wing for Australia at Test level but is primarily a fullback.
