Parramatta's Kelly answers career doubts

Brian Kelly makes contract call as November 1 looms

Brian Kelly has extended his Parramatta Eels deal by one year, through 2028, avoiding free agency.

Released by Gold Coast after 2025, he joined as Zac Lomax's replacement on a team-friendly two-year deal.

Kelly played 22 of 24 games in 2026, averaging 176 running metres and recording 72 line breaks; he also reached 200 NRL appearances.

Despite Parramatta's fourth straight season outside the finals, he shared the Ken Thornett Medal with Jack Williams.

Mark O'Neill, the Eels' General Manager of Football, praised Kelly's yardage work, saying, "Brian has been a wonderful addition to the team since arriving at the Club."

Parramatta have 17 players off contract at the end of 2027; Jarome Luai, Spencer Leniu and Jaydn Su'A have joined, and Junior Paulo has extended.

Josh Addo-Carr's B sample remains unresolved, and his future is uncertain; reports say he could face a 12-match suspension if contracted to an NRL club.
