Panthers respond to Nathan Cleary rumours

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has responded to rumors regarding his son, Nathan Cleary, potentially switching to rugby union later in his career.

While discussions persist about such a move, Nathan is currently focused on competing against his close friend Jarome Luai in the NRL.

According to reports, Nathan has two more years remaining on his contract with the Panthers, and if he signs a new deal with the anticipated salary cap increase, he could become one of the highest-paid players in history.

Despite speculation, there is no indication that Nathan is considering leaving Penrith, where he has already enjoyed significant success, including four consecutive titles and the potential to break multiple NRL records.

Tim Horan, a Wallabies legend, has suggested that Nathan might be contemplating a switch to rugby, while other commentators argue that since he has achieved so much in rugby league, he has little left to prove.

A key consideration in this speculation is Nathan's partner, Mary Fowler, who is currently injured but plays football overseas.

This situation might create an opportunity for Nathan to explore rugby options in Europe.

However, Ivan Cleary asserted, "Nathan's here for another two years, so that's where he's going to be."
