The Penrith Panthers have reportedly increased their offer to Jarome Luai in an attempt to persuade the talented five-eighth to remain at the club.
Luai, who has won three premierships with the Panthers, was initially informed by the team that they could only offer him $800,000 due to salary cap constraints and that he was free to explore other options in the open market.
However, it appears that other clubs are willing to offer him significantly more, with reports suggesting that he could potentially receive an extra $300,000 elsewhere.
In response, the Panthers have upped the stakes by presenting Luai with a two-year deal worth $1.7 million, extending until the end of 2026.
This move comes ahead of Luai's anticipated entry into the open market after November 1.
Last week, the five-eighth announced that he would be signing with management company Black Money Enterprises, a decision that many interpreted as a sign that he intends to test his market value.
