According to reports, the Penrith Panthers have given their approval for Jarome Luai to explore other options in the NRL, potentially igniting a fierce competition among rival clubs for his signature.

Luai, who played a pivotal role in the Panthers' recent premiership triumph, is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, preventing him from participating in Samoa's Pacific Test series.

However, this setback hasn't diminished his desirability in the market.

As Luai's contract is set to expire at the conclusion of next season, he will be eligible to negotiate with other clubs starting from November 1.

The uncertainty surrounding Luai's future at Penrith has generated considerable speculation, especially after the team secured Dylan Edwards with a lucrative four-year extension worth $850,000 annually.

There have been concerns that the Panthers' salary cap limitations may force them to part ways with Luai, despite Coach Ivan Cleary's desire to keep the talented 26-year-old in their ranks.

Given Luai's exceptional form and skill set, it is widely believed that he could command a salary of around $1 million or possibly even more in the open market.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Penrith has no objections to Luai exploring his options and receiving offers from other clubs.

Matt Cameron, the Chief Executive of the Panthers, emphasized that the focus for now is on Luai's recovery and well-being, as he is scheduled for surgery on his shoulder.

Cameron also stated that Luai is contracted with the club until 2024, indicating that there is no urgency to initiate contract discussions at this stage.

It remains to be seen which clubs will show interest in acquiring Luai's services, but it is expected that there will be significant competition due to his exceptional form and potential.

As the open market beckons for Luai, fans and experts alike will be eagerly watching to see how this situation unfolds and whether he ultimately remains with the Panthers or takes his talents elsewhere.
