Panthers paws for thought on Cleary's shoulder injury

Penrith Panthers head honcho Ivan Cleary has some concerns regarding his star player and son, Nathan Cleary, and his latest shoulder setback.

The younger Cleary seems to have aggravated the same shoulder injury that plagued him during the pre-season, a real blow for the team.

The talented halfback, who missed out on the State of Origin action due to a pesky hamstring injury, has been soldiering on with shoulder issues throughout the season.

However, after their narrow loss to the Melbourne Storm, Ivan Cleary revealed that Nathan's shoulder problem has resurfaced and further scans will be necessary to assess the extent of the damage.

"It's definitely a shoulder injury.

He initially injured it in the pre-season, had some hiccups with it at the start of the season, but managed to get it under control during his time off for the hamstring problem.

Unfortunately, it's come back to haunt him tonight," Cleary shared during his post-match debrief.

"We're not quite sure of the full extent yet.

It was serious enough for him to leave the field.

We'll arrange for scans tomorrow to get a clearer picture and plan the next steps, but it's definitely a cause for concern," he added.

The Panthers will hope for a swift recovery for their key player and hope he can bounce back stronger than ever.
