Nathan Cleary became only the third player to win the Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) Players' Champion award more than once, joining James Tedesco and Johnathan Thurston.
His 2026 win came after his previous triumph in 2020, with NRL players voting him ahead of finalists Erin Clark, Herbie Farnworth, Haumole Olakau'atu and James Tedesco.
The Penrith halfback had also earned three RLPA Player of the Month awards this season, in March, July and August.
RLPA chief executive Clint Newton praised Cleary's performances for club and state, as well as his resilience through a season of highs and lows.
"Throughout this season, for club and state, Nathan has consistently played at a level even beyond his high standards. To now be a multiple-time winner alongside James Tedesco and Johnathan Thurston is a massive honour and credit to Nathan's ability, professionalism, relentlessness and toughness," Newton said.
"The expectations on Nathan are always very high. But in 2026 he showed once again that he can carry that pressure and produce quality performance after quality performance... Nathan has been on another level in 2026."
Cleary remains in hospital after suffering a double compound leg fracture in Penrith's preliminary final loss to the Knights on Sunday afternoon.
"Lastly, I just want to send my thoughts to Nathan and his family after sustaining a brutal injury in the Preliminary Final. I wish you all the best in your recovery and we know you will fight your way back on the playing field as soon as you can," Newton said.
Cleary is expected to poll strongly at Wednesday night's 2026 Dally M Medal ceremony in Sydney. He led the leaderboard when voting went behind closed doors after Round 12.
