Penrith Panthers forward Isaiah Papali'i has been charged by the NRL's match review committee for a high tackle that occurred during the club's elimination final victory over the New Zealand Warriors.

Specifically, Papali'i was cited for a high shot on Chanel Harris-Tavita in the second half, yet he faces only a Grade 1 charge.

As this is his first offence within the rolling 12-month period, Papali'i has the option to accept a $1000 fine if he takes an early guilty plea. Alternatively, he can challenge the charge at the judiciary, which could result in a fine of $1500 if he is unsuccessful.

Despite the incident, Papali'i delivered a commendable performance and was one of Penrith's standout players during the match, coming off the bench to help secure their win over the Warriors. This victory positions the Panthers for a Week 2 knockout semi-final against the Canterbury Bulldogs in Sydney.

Additionally, New Zealand Warriors forward Jackson Ford was also put on report for a lifting tackle in the first half, but he has not faced any charges.

In the later match, the Cronulla Sharks managed to defeat the Sydney Roosters, keeping their season alive; however, Addin Fonua-Blake was the only player from the game charged, due to a shoulder charge incident.

The incident depicted Fonua-Blake not making any attempt to wrap his arm during the tackle. However, the match review committee did not issue any charges, allowing him to remain eligible to compete in the upcoming semi-final against either the Canberra Raiders or the Brisbane Broncos.
