Penrith's squad has taken another hit with the shock news that James Fisher-Harris has been granted a release to join the Warriors on a four-year deal.
The NRL community was left stunned by the announcement, with Fisher-Harris, known as one of the best front-rowers in the league, set to leave the Panthers on compassionate grounds.
The 28-year-old prop had two years remaining on his contract with Penrith, but the Warriors swooped in with a lucrative four-year offer.
The Panthers, acknowledging Fisher-Harris' contributions to the club, decided to grant his request to return home to New Zealand after the 2024 season.
Head coach Ivan Cleary expressed his disappointment at losing Fisher-Harris, who has been a key player for the Panthers since joining at a young age.
"Fish has been a standout performer for us, both on and off the field," Cleary said, reflecting on the prop's impact on the team.
This latest development adds another chapter to the ongoing saga for Penrith, who will now have to regroup and look to fill the void left by Fisher-Harris.
In a league where loyalty is often tested, the Panthers face a challenge as they navigate this unexpected change in their lineup.
