Olakau'atu's Origin Future in Doubt After Disappointment

‘Owe them a lot’: The Foran impact and Fainu connection behind Olakau’atu’s Origin recall

Haumole Olakau'atu experienced a moment of uncertainty regarding his future with the NSW Blues after being left out following the first two matches of the 2024 State of Origin series.

His disappointment was compounded by an injury setback from the previous year, leading many to believe that his chances to represent the team had diminished.

Nevertheless, following a string of outstanding performances at the start of this season, the powerful back-rower for the Manly Sea Eagles has made a remarkable comeback through sheer determination and skill.

By delivering a series of impressive displays in club competition, Olakau'atu has successfully secured a position in the team, edging out competitors like Angus Crichton, Jacob Preston, and Keaon Koloamatangi.

"I got the phone call from Loz [Laurie Daley] while I was having dinner and when he said I was in the Blues squad and starting, I just had an overwhelming feeling and a very proud moment for myself," stated Olakau'atu.
