In a bid to take the women's game to the next level, NRLW stars Jess Sergis and Kezie Apps are leading the charge for changes ahead of the 2025 season.
With the NRLW draw set to be released soon, players are pushing for a shift in the season schedule and better compensation for time off work to fully embrace the professional game.
Joining forces with the Jillaroos before the big Pacific Cup final showdown against New Zealand, Sergis and Apps are advocating for the NRLW season to kick off earlier in the year.
This change would help players avoid heading into State of Origin matches without proper warm-up, ensuring peak performance from the get-go.
Currently, the women's calendar sees State of Origin games leading directly into the NRLW season, culminating in a grand final showdown alongside the men's NRL grand final.
The players are eager for a more structured approach, with Sergis noting the adaptability of women in the face of changing circumstances.
"I think we've shown that we can roll with the punches and adapt to whatever comes the way," Sergis said.
"But to really elevate the game, we need a dedicated NRLW pre-season leading into the season, followed by rep footy.
It's all about playing the best football when it matters most."
As the women's game continues to grow and evolve, Sergis, Apps, and their fellow players are committed to pushing for changes that will elevate NRLW to new heights.
Stay tuned for the upcoming 2025 draw release to see what awaits the stars of the women's game.
