The NRL has made some strategic moves to avoid a clash with the AFL grand final, shuffling the order of the 2024 preliminary finals.

The Melbourne Storm will now take on the Sydney Roosters, giving the Victorian franchise a chance to shine on the eve of the AFL grand final.

In a classic sporting twist, the Roosters will have just six days to recover from their previous match against the Manly Sea Eagles before facing off against Melbourne.

Meanwhile, the Cronulla Sharks, fresh off their victory against the North Queensland Cowboys, will have an extra day to prepare for their showdown with the Penrith Panthers.

The Panthers, eyeing their fifth straight grand final appearance, have opted to host their match at the Olympic Stadium in Homebush.

It's a venue they are familiar with and have had success in before, adding to the tension and excitement of the upcoming clash.
