The NRL has set their sights on injured South Sydney star Latrell Mitchell after a snapshot emerged from the weekend, showing him in a compromising position next to a mysterious white substance.

South Sydney has passed on the intel to the NRL integrity unit regarding the photo of Mitchell, who was caught leaning over a table alongside an unidentified woman, with what looks like a raspberry Vodka Cruiser in the mix.

While there's no concrete evidence of any wrongdoing, the hazy image has caused quite a stir.

It remains a mystery as to who leaked the photo, taken during Mitchell's community engagement in Dubbo.

The Rabbitohs have acknowledged the situation, stating, "The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been made aware of a photograph circulating through social media of Latrell Mitchell following a personal appearance in Dubbo on the weekend," and have looped in the NRL integrity unit.

As the investigation unfolds, the Rabbitohs are keeping their cards close to their chest, offering no further commentary at this time.

Mitchell, a key player for the team, finds himself in the spotlight once again as the rugby league world watches on with bated breath.
