Shannon Noll has offered to perform at the NRL Grand Final next Sunday, saying he wants to honour Australian rock singer Angry Anderson.
Anderson, a close friend of Noll's, died this week.
"I put a post up saying I was available just so we wouldn't have a nothing show there," Noll said.
He proposed singing "You Can't Be Beaten" as a tribute at Accor Stadium.
Noll said the NRL has not contacted him, but he would perform without seeking the fee reportedly allocated to Tones and I.
"I am not holding my breath. I think one thing is there would be plenty of money left over for grassroots footy," he said.
Tones and I was removed as the headline act after reportedly declining to perform "Dance Monkey" and facing a scheduling clash with a United States show alongside Macklemore.
The cancellation left $1 million available for grassroots initiatives, according to NRL boss Peter V'landys.
That decision encouraged Australian artists to offer themselves for the vacant performance slot.
V'landys told Code Sports that the entertainment program could still change.
"There could be a surprise," V'landys said.
