NRL Considers Daytime Grand Final Change

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The NRL Grand Final stands as rugby league's premier event, second only to State of Origin, and the significance is well recognized within the league.

Given this, ARLC chairman Peter V'landys aims to enhance the occasion as much as possible. With ongoing discussions within the rugby league community advocating for change, V'landys is attentive to these suggestions.

Proposals to alter the Grand Final's timing have surfaced repeatedly; while V'landys has indicated that no changes are on the immediate horizon, he acknowledges the potential for future adjustments.

"Right now we have a broadcast agreement that requires us to play the grand final at night," V'landys told the Daily Telegraph.

"However, it is something we can discuss in negotiations for the next broadcast deal.

"We would also have to consult all major stakeholders."

He noted that Sunday afternoon games are popular among NRL fans, suggesting that this could be a beneficial direction for the league's flagship event.
