Surprise NRL club targets Mitchell Pearce for shock comeback
In a plot twist that has sent shockwaves through the rugby league world, a surprise NRL club has reportedly expressed interest in signing the recently retired halfback Mitchell Pearce.
News Corp has revealed that the Parramatta Eels were in discussions about the possibility of bringing Pearce on board as a replacement for the injured Mitch Moses.
A mystery third party allegedly prompted Eels general manager Mark O'Neill to consider the idea, but ultimately, it did not progress beyond the initial talks with coach Brad Arthur.
However, according to James Hooper on Triple M, Parramatta officials reached out to Pearce directly.
"If he had agreed, there's a real chance we would have seen Mitch Pearce donning the blue and gold jersey," Hooper disclosed.
With Moses sidelined for up to three months due to a fractured foot, Parramatta will be relying on young gun Blaize Talagi to partner Dylan Brown in the halves for their upcoming Easter Monday matchup against the Tigers.
As the rugby league world eagerly awaits Pearce's decision, speculation is rife about whether the veteran halfback will make a stunning return to the field and showcase his skills once more.
