NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo has expressed his support for clubs resting players in the final round of the regular season, despite criticism from fans and Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy.

The controversy arose ahead of the Broncos vs Storm clash, where both teams opted to rest multiple key players.

This decision disappointed fans who had already purchased tickets and felt they were being cheated out of a thrilling match between the top-ranked teams.

However, Abdo defended the clubs' right to prioritize player rest before the finals.

He stated that each coach and club has the autonomy to make decisions about player selection and strategies.

Abdo also expressed confidence that the NRL games would still be exciting and compelling, even with the absence of star players.

He pointed out that there would be debuts for new players, adding further excitement to the matches.

Despite the backlash, Abdo remains unconcerned and believes that all eight games in the final round will deliver an entertaining spectacle for fans.
