Jamal Shibasaki scored five tries in 14 appearances for Wynnum Seagulls during the 2026 Queensland Cup season.
The 21-year-old also made six line breaks and recorded 94.5 per cent tackle efficiency, playing at lock and in the second row.
North Sydney confirmed on Friday that Shibasaki had signed a one-year deal for the 2027 NSW Cup season.
He will train with the Perth Bears in pre-season before joining North Sydney's squad, giving him a chance to impress Perth's coaching staff.
His older brother, Gehamat Shibasaki, is expected to start at centre for Perth when the club makes its NRL debut in Round One next year.
Jamal represented the Queensland Maroons Under-19s in the 2023 State of Origin fixture and debuted in the NRL with the North Queensland Cowboys in 2024. He made another first-grade appearance the following year but has not added to that tally since.
"The North Sydney Bears are pleased to announce the signing of second-rower Jamal Shibasaki for the 2027 NSW Cup season," the club wrote.
"Shibasaki brings NRL experience to the Bears, having made his first-grade debut with the North Queensland Cowboys in 2024. He will undertake pre-season training with the Perth Bears later this year before joining North Sydney's NSW Cup squad ahead of the 2027 campaign."
