"No Certainties": Ryles reveals Addo-Carr not assured starting berth

Freshly minted Parramatta Eels coach Jason Ryles has made it crystal clear that speedster Josh Addo-Carr will not be gifted a spot in the starting lineup when Round 1 of the 2025 NRL season kicks off.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, the former Canterbury Bulldogs winger, shown the door by his former club following an off-field incident on the cusp of the 2024 NRL finals series, has inked a two-year deal with Parramatta.

However, the club has cleverly structured the contract, with the second year being an option at their discretion.

Addo-Carr will need to earn his stripes, with Ryles cautioning in a press conference as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, that the speedster has his work cut out for him.

"I've been upfront with Josh, there are no guarantees he'll slot into the starting 13," Ryles informed the press.
