Proud Australian Kevin Walters is committed to setting aside any Queensland bias when he selects his inaugural Test team as Kangaroos coach.

The dual Queensland State of Origin-winning coach and five-time Brisbane Broncos grand final champion assures fans that his selections will not reflect any Maroons favoritism.

This promise might be challenging, considering that he has fellow Queensland legend Gorden Tallis as one of his assistants, alongside Hull Kingston Rovers coach Willie Peters.

Despite this, Walters dismissed any implications of bias ahead of the Kangaroos' departure on Wednesday for the highly anticipated three-Test series.

"That's not a problem for me," Walters stated. "I have actually worked with the Australian team before with Ricky Stuart, so I got a bit of a sniff there with his environment. I've been on touring teams as well. We're a great country and we play like a great country."
