New Zealand sweat on Mulitalo ban

Ugly high shot, punch as pair SENT OFF in mammoth Kiwis demolition

New Zealand secured a place in the World Cup semi-finals with a 78-0 defeat of Fiji, but winger Ronaldo Mulitalo may have played his last match of the tournament.

Early in the second half, with the Kiwis ahead 48-0, Mulitalo rushed out of the defensive line and hit Ronald Philitoga high in the head.

Fiji halfback Brandon Wakeham punched Mulitalo in the head, setting off a mass confrontation.

Referee Grant Atkins sent both players off, leaving Mulitalo awaiting possible charges and uncertain about his availability for next week's semi-final.

New Zealand forward Joseph Tapine was also placed on report, while Fiji forward Jordan Miller was sent to the sin bin late in the match for a headbutt.
