The Penrith Panthers face the potential departure of forward Luke Garner, who has been linked to the Dragons after reports indicate he was permitted to negotiate with other clubs early.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Garner and his management have received clearance to leave a year early if they can secure a new club.
Initially, the Parramatta Eels were one of three teams interested in Garner, but a competing three-year offer from another team has emerged.
Recent developments in the player market suggest that the Dragons might be the primary candidates for Garner's services.
The Dragons recently announced that Jack de Belin will join the Parramatta Eels starting in 2026, which effectively eliminates the Eels from competing for Garner.
De Belin's exit also opens up additional salary cap space for the Dragons, making them a more viable option for Garner.

Chammas stated, "That's an area they want to improve, but good luck finding a middle...

Apparently, they were looking at Luke Garner as a potential edge-player, but it doesn't solve their middles."
Garner would contribute both versatility and experience to the Dragons, having won multiple premierships with the Panthers.
The 29-year-old forward boasts an impressive record of 114 first-grade games, comprising 75 appearances with the Wests Tigers and 39 with Penrith.
As the situation develops, Garner's potential transition to the Dragons could become a significant story in the ongoing player negotiations.
