The NRL's match review committee (MRC) has confirmed that Matt Lodge will not face any sanctions for a controversial incident during a recent game.
Fans thought Lodge committed a hip drop tackle on South Sydney Rabbitohs debutant Brandon Smith as the match neared its end.
Smith, returning from an ACL injury, could now be sidelined for an extended period, jeopardizing his season and the Rabbitohs' slim finals chances.
Although Lodge was not penalized during the game, there was speculation that the MRC might review the incident.
Ultimately, they chose not to take action, allowing Lodge to play in Manly's upcoming match.
In response, Brandon Smith took to social media to emphasize that he harbors no blame towards Lodge, stating he believed Lodge "didn't do anything wrong."
