The NRL's match review committee issued only one charge after Saturday's four-game pre-season challenge, despite on-field officials placing four players on report during the slate.

Canterbury Bulldogs prop Josh Curran is the sole player facing sanction after being cited for dangerous contact on Newcastle Knights second-rower Jermaine McEwen in the 46th minute in Newcastle.

The Bulldogs recorded a shutout victory in that fixture, and Curran is expected to be available for the club's upcoming Las Vegas clash with St George Illawarra because the MRC graded the incident as a Grade 1 charge.

As it stands, the incident counts as Curran's second charge on his rolling 12-month record, which attracts financial penalties rather than suspension at this level.

Under the grading he will incur a $1800 fine if he accepts an early guilty plea, or $2500 if he elects to contest the charge and is unsuccessful at the judiciary.

Three other players were placed on report during Saturday's matches but escaped MRC charges: Bulldogs utility Jaeman Salmon, Wests Tigers outside back Heamasi Makasini, and South Sydney Rabbitohs prop Sean Keppie.

Makasini was reported for a late tackle, while both Salmon and Keppie were cited for high tackles during their respective games.

Despite those on-field reports, the MRC decided not to progress any further charges against that trio following review.

C curran's case remains the only formal matter pending after the committee completed its assessments.

He has until midday AEDT on Monday to accept the early guilty plea or elect to take his case to the judiciary.

The decision framework means the Bulldogs will know whether they retain Curran in their matchday plans relatively quickly.
