Raiders playmaker Ethan Strange has joined Australia's 23-man squad after initially being named as one of three shadow players.
His promotion follows confirmation that Mitchell Moses will miss the rest of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.
Scans showed the 32-year-old had suffered a high-grade calf muscle tear during Australia's 24-22 win over New Zealand on Thursday night.
Moses was injured in the first half and limped off early in the second.
Tom Dearden replaced him in the tournament opener, and Dearden and Sam Walker are set to take on Australia's halfback duties.
Coach Kevin Walters said Moses had contributed to the team's preparations in Sydney and had tried to continue despite his injury.
Walters added that Moses was disappointed to leave the tournament and praised his commitment to representing Australia.
"We wish Mitch all the best with his recovery." Walters said.
Australia meets Fiji in Brisbane next weekend.
Walters had already indicated Dearden and Walker would start in the halves, but it is unclear whether that plan will change.
