Michael Maguire, the new coach of the NSW Blues, is not ready to confirm whether Latrell Mitchell will be making a comeback for the team.

Maguire, who is determined to turn around the team's recent struggles, is on the lookout for talented players from all corners.

In a recent interview with news.com.au, Maguire emphasized the importance of having the right mindset to compete at the elite level.

He mentioned that there could be as many as "40 or 50" players competing for the 17 spots on the roster come June 5th.

Despite extending an invitation to Mitchell for a team meeting, the star fullback was absent.

Maguire is focusing on selecting players based on their character and resilience, citing Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen as an example of the type of player he is looking for.

Standing on the hallowed grounds of the MCG, where the second game of the series will be held, Maguire expressed his desire for a team that the people of NSW can be proud of.

Having previously coached the New Zealand international team, Maguire is well aware of the level of competition in State of Origin.

He believes that only a select few players have what it takes to rise to the occasion and bring the Origin Shield back to New South Wales, ending Queensland's domination.

With a wide pool of talent to choose from, Maguire is confident in his ability to build a formidable team capable of taking on any challenge.

The Blues are gearing up for a fierce battle, and Maguire is leaving no stone unturned in his quest for victory.
