Latrell Mitchell is gearing up for a significant football match today.
The NRL star and his team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, are set to face off against his previous club, the Sydney Roosters, in a heated rivalry that's eagerly anticipated.
It's been quite some time since Mitchell last interacted with the media.
Numerous articles have been published discussing his reluctance to connect with the press, which is understandable given the intense, often unjust scrutiny he faces.
He chose to break his media silence to shed light on one particular initiative - the Winmarra Foundation, which he co-established in late 2024.
The foundation's Emerging Leaders Program spans 10 months and aims to support both at-risk youths and high achievers in their personal growth and skill acquisition.
Mitchell has a personal tie to the name "Winmarra".
"Winmarra just is the surrounding area of Taree where I was born," Mitchell shared.
"We have a big mountain range that follows us, surrounds us in the Manning Valley."
