Latrell Mitchell of the South Sydney Rabbitohs is reportedly preparing for a change in position, potentially moving away from his usual role as fullback.
Images surfaced on Wednesday showing him training at left centre, stirring excitement among Rabbitohs fans who have long awaited this shift.
This decision seems unexpected, considering Wayne Bennett's previous insistence on keeping Mitchell in the fullback position last season, even with Jye Gray showcasing impressive performances.
Gray's recent choice to decline R360 to extend his contract raises questions about whether his deal includes a stipulation that guarantees him priority for the fullback role.
For Mitchell, though, shifting to left centre may not be ideal, but it is a position he is well-acquainted with, having played there for two years at the Sydney Roosters and featuring in 11 State of Origin matches.
When questioned about this training switch, his Rabbitohs teammate Cody Walker remained tight-lipped, stating, "We'll see what happens," to reporters.
